This event will be held at the Family Resource Center on the campus of the Baptist Children's Homes of NC in Thomasville, NC. We will begin at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 25 and end at 11:45 am on Wednesday, August 27, 2008.

Tuition is $400 (Lutheran ministers in North Carolina will receive $250 scholarship from the NC Lutheran Synod) Single housing and meals is $155 and commuter cost (meals only) is $60.

This event will be held at Riverchase Baptist Church (2020 Crossvine Rd) in Birmingham, AL on September 15-17, 2008.

Tuition is $250. Pastors affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention will receive a $150 scholarship provided by the ABSC.

Housing and meals are the responsibility of the participant. Suggested housing locations:

All sessions will be held at the Avila Retreat Center in Durham, NC. Participants must be able to attend all retreats and day sessions.

Tuition for all retreats and day sessions is $765. Single room housing and meals for all retreats and day sessions is $460. A deposit of $100 is required when application is submitted. This deposit is refundable through May 9, 2008 if participant needs to withdraw or their application is not accepted.

Because of the interactive nature of the program, it will be limited to 12 participants. Our experience is that participants benefit from at least five years of pastoral experience as well as having done readings and workshops in the area of spirituality before beginning this program. This program is open to ministers of any Christian denomination. The application deadline is May 9, 2008.

 The Schedule

Phase 1 – The Foundation

Purpose:  Developing a common language and frame of reference for the spiritual life.

Activities:

· Selected readings and periodic one-page reflection papers

· A visit from one of the leaders

 Activities will take place from August to December 2008

 Retreat 1 October 20-21, 2008

Phase 2 – The Practice

Purpose: The opportunity for gaining a firm grasp of what it means for the pastor to function as spiritual guide and the opportunity to go deeper in one’s spiritual life. These purposes will be achieved through presentations, spiritual exercises, silence, and worship.

Retreat 3 May 11-13, 2009

The Residential Lab will be held on November 3-7, 2008 at the Family Resource Center on the campus of the Baptist Children's Homes of NC in Thomasville, NC. The class will begin at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 3 and end at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 7.

Tuition for the Residential Lab and Fieldwork is $725 (limited scholarships are available to N.C. Baptist pastors on a "needs" basis). Housing and meals for the Residential Lab is $305 for single or $110 for commuters (meals only).

All three sessions will be held at the Family Resource Center on the campus of the NC Baptist Children's Home. Housing Cost (includes all four sessions):  Single Occupancy $510; Double Occupancy $355; Commuter Fee (meals only) $185. Tuition (includes all four sessions) is $750. These costs do not include the cost of books needed for outside reading.
