While out for my morning walk/run, I was fuming (yes, fuming) over why this cardio work doesn’t seem to be benefitting me like it does others that I know (like my husband, who looks great, has lost about 40 lbs. and seems to be in a very good groove with his cardio work out). I began to ask myself some questions and to pay attention to my workout.
I realized that I am in a pretty comfortable place—I walk/run 3 – 6 miles 3 – 6 times per week. I have been doing this for about a year. AND, I am not pushing myself to reduce my time or increase my miles. I am comfortable. As I was reflecting on my workout I thought about my congregation and many congregations that I have worked with.
Often, as congregations we get in a pretty comfortable place. We may have adopted some healthy practices and doing fine. But, do we push ourselves to improve our health?
As an individual, I know that I must push the boundaries on my workout, I must always work to improve.
What does that look like for a congregation?
